Prof. Tomoko Hirayama
Kyoto University
Tomoko Hirayama is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Kyoto University from April 2019. She earned
her
Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Tokyo in 1997, and her PhD in Engineering from Kyoto University in
2003.
After the graduation of Kyoto University, she worked at Ryukoku University and Doshisha University, and she
accepted a
Professor position at Doshisha University in 2014. Her research field is tribology and lubrication engineering
covering
from boundary to hydrodynamic lubrication regimes. In particular, she specializes in structural analysis of
lubricants
and sliding interfaces using neutron beams, and studies the correlation between them and tribological
properties.
