Prof. Park is a professor at Seoul National University, Korea. His research field is strongly correlated electron systems, particularly magnetism using neutron and x-ray scattering techniques. He currently leads the Center for Quantum Materials, supported by the Korean National Research Foundation and the Samsung Science & Technology Foundation.He received various prestigious awards: the POSCO Science Prize in 2023, the Korea Science Award in 2016, the most prestigious science prize in the nation, and the Korean Physical Society Prize in 2015, to name only a few. He is a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (2017~), a Fellow of the Korean Physical Society (2015~), and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, UK (2008~).

He received a B.Sc. degree in 1988, an M.Sc. in 1990 from the Department of Physics at Seoul National University, Korea, and a PhD from the Department of Physics at Imperial College, UK, in 1993.
